RMU’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Students have a great time at bootcamp!

RMU students spend their spring break exploring the nonprofit sector

The Bayer Center is proud to partner with Robert Morris University’s Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) Program – a national nonprofit organization established in the 1940s which partners with universities and colleges to prepare the next generation of nonprofit leaders. Established at RMU in 2007, NLA is coordinated by the Office of Student Civic Engagement in the Division of Student Life. The Bayer Center is pleased to offer an eight week class series in the fall and a week-long boot camp in the spring designed for NLA students to address the unique leadership opportunities and challenges faced by nonprofit professionals.

This year’s boot camp was held March 11 – 14 and was great fun for both students and staff!  Enjoy watching the NLA students as they spent their second day of boot camp exploring some of the Northside’s nonprofits including the Northside Christian Health Center (thank to Executive Director Floyd Cephas), the Children’s Museum (thanks to Kimberly Bracken, Food City Fellows) and Western PA Humane Society (thanks to Jessica Dettling, Director of Volunteer & Foster Programs).

The NLA bootcamp students also learned about fundraising and presentations from Peggy and Jeff at the Bayer Center, and visited the United Way of Allegheny County, Manchester Bidwell, Father Ryan Arts Center, Pittsburgh Historical Landmarks Foundation and Coro.  What a week!  Thanks to all who volunteered their time and talent to this remarkable group of young people.
