The Wish Book is a hard–bound, printed book that is mailed to the Foundation’s donor community every November. Organizations that have been selected for inclusion in the Wish Book have a short description of their organization and a tangible wish for $2,500 or less published in the book, giving donors an opportunity to learn about and support regional nonprofit organizations. Once the Wish Book is mailed, the Pittsburgh Foundation accepts requests from donors on a rolling basis between November and March. In 2015, 49 separate donor-advised funds gave a combined total of nearly $205,000 to a majority of the 75 participating organizations.
Grant requests will be processed and checks will be cut on a rolling basis between November and March. Grant amounts will be at the discretion of the donor making the request, and can range from $250 to $2,500. Inclusion in the Wish Book is not a guarantee of receiving grant funds. In the event that your wish request is fulfilled at the time a donor requests a grant to your organization, the Foundation will contact both you and the donor to determine the best fit for the grant. At the conclusion of the Wish Book campaign, the funding process will end and grants for Wish Book projects will no longer be accepted.
Uses of Grant Funds
Funds must be used explicitly for the wish as stated in the application.
An eligible applicant must be an incorporated 501(c)(3) organization operating in Allegheny, Butler and/or Westmoreland counties, or an incorporated 501(c)(3) organization that provides at least 75 percent of its services in those counties.
